Indirani Farms is a pioneer in the district of Kanchipuram in the manufacture of organic fertilizer (Vermicompost) and pest control (Panchagavya). Spread over 50 acres, we produce several seasonal organic fruits and vegetables, organic A2 milk, and dairy products. Our fully self-sustaining design of raising native breed cows fed with organic fodder grown in the farm, whose excreta are then used in the production of the fertilizers, and pest control has been heralded as an exemplary model by the TN Department of Agriculture.
Vermicomposting is the process of turning organic debris into worm castings. The worm castings are very important to the fertility of the soil. The castings contain high amounts of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium. Castings contain 5 times the available nitrogen, 7 times the available potash, and 1½ times more calcium than found in good topsoil. At Indirani Farms, we use a special blend of cattle manure (collected from our organic fodder fed native breed cows and bulls raised in our very own Goshala), coir from our organically grown coconut trees, and other organic plant waste collected in the farm.
Panchagavya, an organic product, has the potential to promote plant growth and markedly increase immunity in plant systems, thereby creating a natural resistance to pests. Panchagavya consists of nine products: cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd, jaggery, ghee, banana, tender coconut, and water. When suitably mixed and used, these have miraculous effects.
The specialty of Indirani Panchagavya is that all our ingredients except jaggery (which is specially imported from Ichalkaranji) are produced in house organically.
